Office 365 - 2FA Set-up using Smart Phone
Your password can be easily compromised. 2FA authentication increases your account security by requiring multiple forms of verification to prove your identity when signing into an application.
To opt-in to 2FA complete the steps below:
Step 1:
Click on NMSU 2FA Opt-In to start the enrollment process.
Read consent, select Yes and click Submit.

Step 2:
After submitting consent, you will be notified of your enrollment in 2FA.

Step 3:
Next, on your phone go to the App Store (iPhone users) or Google Play (Android users) to download Microsoft Authenticator app.

Step 4:
Next, click on this Link or visit https://myprofile.microsoft.com on your phone to access your account and begin set-up.
Note: Please ensure that you are signing in with your "NMSU email" then click Sign In.

Step 5:
After, providing your NMSU "Username and Passphrase" click Sign In.
Note: Confirm that the next image shows your NMSU email and click Next.

Step 6:
If you have already downloaded the authenticator app, you can skip the next screen and click Next.
If you have not already downloaded the app on your phone, go to the App Store (iPhone users)
or Google Play (Android users) to download Microsoft authenticator app.
Note: that you will need to complete step 3 before you can proceed to step 6.

Step 7:
Next, select "pair your account to the app by clicking this link" and click Next.
Note: The authenticator app will open and ask for your screen lock if enabled.
After unlocking your screen the account will be added. You can the proceed with step 8.

Step 8:
After clicking Next, you will receive a "push notification/text message" on your phone, asking for your approval to sign-in.
Approve the "sign-in attempt" to proceed with set-up.
Note: you may be required to use the screen lock on your phone to proceed with set-up.


Step 9:
Proceed with the instructions on screen and click Next.
Step 10:
You have now completed the Authenticator Set-up. Click Next to continue with phone number set-up.
If given the option, you can also click on "Skip Setup" if you do not want to add or use your phone number as an authentication factor.
However, it is highly recommended that you do the phone call set-up as well.

Step 11:
You will then be notified to provide your "phone number" as an additional factors for 2FA.
After you provide your phone number in the required field, click Next to proceed.

Step 12:
Next, you will receive a phone call asking you to verify the sign-in attempt.
Press # key on your phone to verify phone number.
After your verification is complete, click Next and Done.



Step 13:
You will be redirected to the dialogue box displays below, click Next and Done to exit set-up windows.
