NMSU Analytics (Powered by IBM Cognos) - How to access Quick Links
This document provides instructions on how users can access the various resources available under the Quick Links tab.
The Quick Links tab contains the following:

Banner Lookups
To use the Banner Lookups quick link, follow steps below:
Step 1:
Navigate to the far-right hand corner of the Application bar and click on Quick Links.
Next, click on Banner Lookups.

Step 2:
After, navigate to the right of the "Analytics Welcome internet session tab" then click on the browser tab in your internet session labeled “Banner Lookups – IBM Cognos.” From here this allows the user to access Banner Lookups.

Request Access-Employee & Finances
Follow the steps below to access "Request Access-Employee & Finances" link:Step 1:
Navigate to the far-right hand corner of the Application bar, then click on Quick Links.
Next, click on Request Access – Employee & Finances.

Step 2:
After clicking "Request Access – Employee & Finances" navigate from the left to the right of the Analytics Welcome session tab into the newly created session tab labeled “Forms & Documents | Adm....”

Step 3:
After, locate the Search box then type “Cognos Portal Access” to access the "Cognos Portal Access form".

Step 4:
Next, on the left-hand side column labeled “Form Name” click on “Cognos Portal Access” to open the form (the link that is in maroon colored font) .

Step 5:
After opening the form, move your mouse pointer to the right side of the "Forms & Documents tab" to the tab labeled “af.nmsu.edu.”
Follow the instructions for your Cognos Portal Access - Instructions.

Request Access - Student & Financial Aid
Follow the steps below to access "Request Access- Student & Financial Aid" link:Step 1:
Move your mouse pointer to the far-right hand corner of the Application bar and click on Quick Links. After clicking on Quick Links, select "Request Access – Student & Financial Aid" from the drop down option display.

Step 2:
Next, fill in your "Username and Password", then click Log in.
Note: use your NMSU Username and Password.


Help Documents
Follow the steps below to access quick links for "Help Documents":
Step 1:
Move your mouse pointer to the far-right hand corner of the Application bar and click on Quick Links. After clicking on Quick Links, select "Help Documents" from the drop down option display.

Step 2:
Locate the "Search box" on the right hand side of your display screen and "type in the name of the document you intend to Search". After, click Search.

Email Cognos Help
Follow the steps below to access quick link to "Email Cognos Help":
Step 1:
Move your mouse pointer to the far-right hand corner of the Application bar and click on Quick Links.
After clicking on Quick Links, select "Email Cognos Help" from the drop down option display.

Step 2:
Next, navigate to the Internet Explorer pop-up and click on the Allow button to go to the email tool.

Step 3:
After clicking allow, the Microsoft Outlook tool will open a new blank message.
Type your message in the message box and fill all applicable fields, then click Send.

Personal Menu
The personal menu has unique user information about your credentials, and your set of unique personal preference settings.This section provides the user with step-by-step instructions on how they can set their user preferences and also view their user information.






Step 1:
Navigate to the far right-hand corner of the Application Bar. Click on the "Person icon" to open the Personal Menu.

Step 2:
Next, click on My preferences to open the My preferences panel.

Step 3:
My preferences has two tabs "General and Personal."

Step 4:
Under My Preferences panel click on the General tab to open the General options panel. Then navigate to the Report Format drop-down list and click on it to open the list and select your preferred format.
Note: The default is report format is HTML. To see all the Report Format outputs, clink on this link Table 1 Report Format Output Options.

Step 5:
Then navigate to Show hints and click on the checkbox to turn on the Show hints option.

Step 6:
Below is an example screenshot of the Show Hints icon (it is a double green and white circle button icon). To read the Show Hints click on the Show Hints icon. Show Hints are helpful for clients on the Main Portal Page and Analytics Authoring Tools.

Step 7:
Then navigate to the Options for your region. Then look to the far right-hand edge corner of the option and click on the arrow pointing to the right to open the option. After that, set the option for the following:
- Time Zone
- Product Language
- Content Language
- Bidirectional language support
- Base direction for text

Step 8:
Continuing, navigate to the Personal Tab and click on it to open the Personal options panel. After that, navigate to the right-hand corner Advanced and click on the arrow pointing down to open the Advanced options.

Step 9:
Next, go to the far right-hand edge corner of the option and click on the arrow pointing to the right to open the Advanced option.
Note: Advanced options can be seen by users as indicated by the word View Details. Other Advanced options can be changed by the client as indicated by the word Manage for the following:
- Credentials
- My credentials
- Groups and roles
- My capabilities
- Logging
- AI learning

Step 10:
Renew Credentials
After the client has modified their Analytics password (the Analytics password is the same as the NMSU SSO Single Sign-On credentials), the client will need to log on to Analytics and renew their credentials. The purpose of renewing the credentials is to continue to allow the client Subscriptions and Schedules to run properly.
Navigate to Credentials and click on Renew (it is a to the blue link) to renew client credentials so that the client Subscriptions and Schedules will continue to run.

Step 11:
Consequently, Users can view Groups and Role and My capabilities as directed by administrators. Following, as directed by administrators, navigate the far-right hand edge of each Advanced option, and click on the "arrow pointing to the right" for the following:
- My credentials
- Groups and roles
- My capabilities
- Logging
- AI learning
Note: Advanced options are not modified often. Advanced settings are customarily set and do not change often.
