WordPress - Using Categories
Categories are meant to help you organize your posts and give visitors an easy way to navigate your posts. These categories are personalized and can be changed at any time.
Create Categories for your posts
- From the Dashboard, mouse over Posts along the sidebar and select Categories.
- On the Categories page, you will see both Add New Category where you can add new categories and your Categories List where your current categories are listed.
- To add a new category, fill in the Name (1) and Slug (2) sections. Next, select a Parent category (3) that you would like to add your new category to. If you do not want to add your new category to a parent category, select None. Last, enter a description (4) for your category if you would like one.
Once your category has been created, you will see the category listed in the list on the Right side of the page. Parent categories appear with their names only, sub categories appear with a dash ( - ) in front of their name.
