Canvas for Android - View the Conversations Inbox in the Canvas app on Android device
Canvas lets you access your conversations on your Android device so you can keep in touch with people in your course at any time.
The images in this lesson are shown for a phone display.
Notes:
- Unlike the web version of Canvas, you cannot view assignment comments from your instructor in Conversations. However, you can view comments in the assignment.
- The mobile version of Canvas supports the ability to start a conversation. However, it does not currently support a filter option to view starred messages. Any messages that you star in the app can be viewed in the starred filter in the web version.
Open Inbox
Tap the Inbox link.
If there are new messages, a number will appear next to the Inbox name showing how many messages you have received. This indicator helps you know when you have new messages when you are in another part of the app.
View Inbox
The Conversations Inbox folder displays all messages you have received and is organized the same way as the browser version of Conversations. Messages are arranged in chronological order—newer messages appear at the top, and older messages appear near the bottom. New messages are indicated in bold text.
Swipe your device from top to bottom to quickly refresh your messages.
View Mailbox Filters
You can view different types of messages. The default view is the Inbox [1], which shows all types of messages. If you only want to view messages you haven't read yet, tap the Unread button [2]. To view all your sent messages, tap the Sent button [3]. Note that some filters may not apply to any messages. To view messages you've archived, tap the Archive button [4].
Manage Conversations
To manage a conversation, tap and hold the conversation until the toolbar appears [1]. To mark a message as unread, tap the Unread icon [2]. To archive a message, tap the Archive icon [3]. To delete a message, tap the Delete icon [4].
