Respondus - Lockdown Browser Download and Install
Respondus Lockdown Browser is available to all NMSU students and is used by instructors to conduct online quizzes and test with access to a search engine and regular browser capabilities.
This document will assist you in the step-by-step process to download and install Respondus Lockdown Browser.
**The pictures provided in this document are taken from a Google Chrome browser on a Mac running macOS High Sierra but all versions of OS will follow the same steps.

Step 1: Once the Respondus download page load click on the Install Now button.
Step 2: The download of the Respondus .zip file will complete automatically. Click on the downloaded ".zip" found in the bottom left corner of your browser.
Step 3: Clicking the ".zip" file will prompt the unpacking of the files. In your "Downloads" folder, found in the Finder, you will now have an "Install Respondus LockDown.pkg". Click on this file to prompt the install process to begin.
Step 4: The first window of Respondus Installer will ask you to "Continue" with the process of installation. Review this box and click Continue.
Step 5: The next window informs you of the version that is to be installed as well as the general location. Review this and click Continue when you are ready to move on.
Step 6: This window displays the "License Agreement", please review this and click Continue which will prompt another window. Click Agree in this window to continue.
Step 7: For this step, you must "Select a Destination" for the installation. Please choose where you would like the package to be installed and click Continue.
Note: For the purposes of this document the destination shown is the "Macintosh HD". This is also the most common choice of location for general purposes.
Step 8: The window will now display the location on your computer that the Respondus Browser will be installed. Click Install to continue.
Note: If your security settings are set to require a password for installing programs another box will appear asking for your "User Name" and "Password". This username and password will be unique for each computer and is set by the administrator. If this is a personal computer that is you.
Step 9: You will see a progress bar for the installation process and when it is complete a box will appear with a large green checkmark the says, "The installation was successful". Click the Close button found at the bottom right side of the box.
You can now lunch the Respondus Lockdown Browser.
Mac Users: The application can be found from the Launch Pad on your home screen.
Windows Users: The application can be found from your Start Menu on your home screen.
