When you sign in to Google Chrome and enable extensions sync option, all the available extensions in your account are synced across all your devices and platforms that have Google Chrome installed. If you have another Mac device that has Mac OS X 10.10.x or higher with latest version of Norton extension for Google Chrome installed, it syncs the Norton extensions with other Mac devices, and automatically removes the Norton legacy extension on Mac OS 10.9.x or earlier.

To stop the automatic removal of Norton legacy extension on Mac OS X 10.9.x or earlier, turn off extension sync in Google Chrome.

  1. Start Google Chrome.

  2. On the top-right corner, click the Customize and control Google Chrome icon, and click Settings.

    Click Sync settings.

  3. Under Advanced Sync Settings, next to Sync everything click the status indicator to turn it Off.

  4. Next to Extensions, click the status indicator to turn it Off.
