Install Forklift SFTP Client (Mac)

The Forklift application is a free file transfer protocol client, available from the Apple App. Store, that can be used for the purpose of editing your webpage.

This document is a tutorial for the processes necessary for you to locate, download, install, and log into the Forklift SSH client. 

Note: Before you are able to connect to the SFTP in order to edit your webpage you will need to log into the site using a secure socket shell or SSH. For Apple computers, this can be done through the Terminal utility. Please click here if you would like to a tutorial on how to do this task. 

Step 1:
Launch the Apple App. Store that can be found by default in your Dock.

Step 2:
Once the App. Store's homepage has loaded navigate to the top right corner and click in the search box. Here you will need to type "forklift" and press enter

Step 3: 
After the results page has loaded navigate to the app named "Forklift - File Manager and FTP/SFTP/WebDAV/Amazon S3 client" and click on its icon. 
Note: This should be the first search item in the search result but if it is not, look for the icon of a forklift.

Step 4: 
From the application's page, you will see a box under the icon, found in the top left of the window, that says "get", click on this box. It should not say "install", please click on the button again to initiate the installation process. 
Note: Depending on your "Keychain" settings you may be prompted to enter your Apple ID and Password. This is a free application, as of mid-2018, and you will not be charged. 

Step 5:
The Forklift application is now accessible from your "Launchpad". Please navigate through your "launchpad" to the Forklift icon and click on it to launch the program.

Step 6:
Once the program has launched you will need to navigate to the icon found in its window of two small computer screens and click. This will load the connection pane.

Step 7: 
Within the connection pane, you will need to first check that the "Protocol" is set to SFTP before you continue. 

Step 8:
The next box titled "Server" type in The last two boxes ask for a username and password. These boxes will be filled with your myNMSU username and password.

Step 9:
Once these fields have been entered click the connect button. If all the information has been entered correctly this should load your "public_html" file.
