Office 365 Video - Managing and Sharing Videos

You can display a transcript of the audio portion of a video below the video by linking a Web Video Text Track (.vtt) file to the video.


Add subtitles or captions to a video

You can display a transcript of the audio portion of a video below the video by linking a Web Video Text Track (.vtt) file to the video.

  1. Display the video page, and pause the video playback if you want.

  2. Select Manage on the menu bar, and then select Subtitles or captions.

  3. In the Subtitles or captions pane, select Upload a new file.

  4. Select the language of the video text track file that you're going to upload, and then select Upload.

  5. Locate and select the VTT file, and then select Open.

Note: At this time, the use of WebVTT subtitles or captions, as used in Office 365 Video, are not supported by the native iOS video player. As a result, subtitles or captions will not appear on iOS devices.

Associate people with a video

  1. Select a video, and pause the video playback if you want.

  2. Select Associate People Office 365 Video Associate People Button in the People related to this video section.

  3. In the People related to this video pane, type the name of the person you want to add and select the person's name from the list.

  4. Select Save.

Associate a video with a person in your organization.

Spotlight a video

If you have administrative permissions for a channel, you can spotlight up to five videos on the channel home page.

  1. Go to the channel page you want to change.

  2. Select Channel Settings.

  3. Select Spotlight in the left pane.

  4. For each video that you want to spotlight:

    • Select the spotlight tile you want to manage.

    • In the window that opens, select the video you want to display on the spotlight tile, and then select OK.

  5. Select Save.

  6. Select Back to channel Back icon to return to the channel home page.

Share videos with others

  • Embed an Office 365 video on your site - For more information, see Embed an Office 365 Video on your site.

  • Post to Yammer - If your organization uses Yammer, you can post to Yammer about a video while you're watching it, and your post will automatically include a link to the video that you're watching. For information about using Yammer, see Say hello to Yammer.

  • Send a link to a video in an email - To get a link to a video, select the video in Office 365 Video, and then copy the URL from the browser address bar.

People you notify about a video will be able to see it if they have permission to view the channel it's in. For information about channel permissions, see Changing channel permissions in Create and manage a channel in Office 365 Video.


Delete a video

  1. Select a video, and pause the video playback if you want.

  2. Select Delete on the menu bar.

  3. Select Delete in the Delete Video dialog box.

Note: Deleted videos are retained in the SharePoint recycle bin for 30 days.
